I have a date tonight. Shhh! It's not with my husband! Although he arranged it ... he's chauffering me ... and he doesn't even seem to mind. It's a rendez-vous I've been wanting for years - dreamed about, maybe even fantasized. Never thought it would happen. But it is - tonight!
My piano man. My knight in shining armor. My date is with Sir Elton. Few have stirred me as his music has. It's a personal relationship; the kind you don't share with anyone. I often wonder if musicians ever truly realize the depth their talents can touch people. What their music means to humanity in a way even the plain written word can never quite reach. The most meaningful moments are often associated with a song. And Elton John's stamp is an imprint left on me forever.
Sorry David. Tonight it's just me and Elton. But you already knew that when you gave me this wonderful gift.
"And you can tell everybody, this is your song
It may be quite simple but now that it's done
I hope you don't mind
I hope you don't mind that I put down in words
How wonderful life is when you're in the world."
