Boys! It never ceases to amaze me how young kids begin to notice the opposite gender. I say "gender" rather than "sex" because that's frighteningly getting younger and younger too.
Grampy and I took Madie to the FREX last night along with Aunt Angie and Uncle Mark. We were busy taking turns getting on the rides with her when her little face lights up and off she trots to another little smiling face. "This is Liam," she introduces the young lad beside her, while excitedly hopping up and down. I have heard about Liam. He's going to marry my beautiful granddaughter one day she tells me matter-of-factly. Like it is fait accompli.
I look down at these two grinning from ear to ear, holding hands. They are so cute, but I can't believe she "in like" with this boy ... she's six!
Already they are planning on which ride they want to get on together so Aunt Angie agrees to take a turn on the Tilt-A-Whirl. We're standing with young Liam's older sister, who Grampy embarrassingly mistakes to be his mother. Oops, but she says she gets that a lot and grins. She tells me that Liam says he loves Madie and would do anything to protect her. She's quietly smiling with affection as she shares his confession.
My eyes fill up for a second. I love her too Liam. Age is forgotten now. Madie is lucky to have such a sensitive, caring friend. I like this "boy"!
