Winners never lose and losers never win. WRONG! I'm a self-confessed loser. Even though I am a Pollyanna by nature, I seldom win much unless it's an elimination draw and then I'm first out. But recently my younger sister, my daughters and I had a pool for Big Brother 9. We drew the names of the house guests and I admit I had an unlikely group of winners. The prize was that the other three "losers" would take the "winner" out for supper at their expense. The "winner" got to choose the location. I had no expectations and wasn't out cruising menus looking for pricey dishes. I didn't go on diningpick.com for suggestions. I did pat my pocketbook and expected I would be reaching for it at the end of the show. God love reality television.
Now I have to say that I watched the show pretty faithfully unlike some of my "fellow pool pals". I would make comments the next day about passing events only to have my exuberance squashed by those who complained that they had "taped" it to watch at their own leisure. Can I help it if they get behind? Is it my fault they have to work or have other more important activities? For those of us who like being on top of their TV programs, we are in "real" time people!
It comes down to the wire and lo and behold, I have a house guest remaining (ADAM), who is rather quirky and not someone I would have considered would take the BB crown. WHO KNEW! Everyone was less than excited about my win except me, of course. Considering my life-long track record in the win-lose-or-tie column. I waited for someone to ask where I'd like to go for my supper soiree. No call for the question. So I waited and waited. Finally, I e-mailed to remind everyone that I had indeed WON, and that I decided to pick Jives since I've only been there a couple of times. Even though BB10 is on the air, I just got out on Monday evening. Took my ridicule (you know you shouldn't have won... not that you didn't ruin it every week by telling what happening...) and had salmon. Good salmon, not the greatest I've ever had but good salmon. Good WINNING salmon. They say winning tastes sweet don't they?
Anyway, thanks girls for honouring your bet. Big surprise... they didn't go for another splash in the "pool". I think they're afraid to take me on... my tide has turned.
