One of the reasons Christmas is my favourite time of year is the children's school concerts. Now that Madie is in kindergarten I can start going again. Last night she was at our house for supper and she was giving us a rundown of what she is doing performance-wise next week. In the midst of discussions, she implied that her class was not performing so her mother and I start to quiz her as we found that odd. To try to get her point across, Mummy asked for the name of someone in her class who wasn't in junior choir or ribbon dancing. She named a little boy and so Mummy asks if he's not in the concert at all? Nope, she replied.
Mummy and I look at each other... hmmm... so not all the classes are performing? Could be a short concert.
Mummy quizzes her some more and she is adamant... she will appear with the choir and the dancing, but not with her class. Mummy isn't convinced she's correct and makes the statement that it wasn't like that when she went to school (I'm enjoying this part... it's taking me back to conversations I have had with Mummy)... Madie responds, "Well things have changed!"
I stifle a giggle. But I particularly LOVE the next line...
Madie: "Mummy you don't have a smart head... Grammie does!"
Gosh, I love that kid!
