Barbie Goes to the AUC

I had minor surgery last week and as a result was home recuperating for a few days. Besides being away from work, it also meant that I didn't get my Madie fix for over a week. On top of not being able to find a comfortable position to rest, I also missed my granddaughter so when I went to the UNB Hockey game on Saturday night and she wanted me to sit with her in the row above our normal reserved (thanks to Grampy) seats, I readily agreed.

I didn't realize we'd have extra seat mates. Once we got settled in above the opposing team's entrance which bears a sign that often acts as a shelf for fans choosing those seats, out came Barbie (aka Sleeping Beauty) and Ken (aka Prince Aiden - not Prince Charming - I know this because I was the one who purchased him sometime back.) Legs neatly folded and hands put behind the rail to hold them up, the duo got first-class seats for the game.

They were very busy mind you, they danced, they sang, they dressed and undressed, they even kissed numerous times (they're married you know Grammie). And boy, did they like to kiss! But their action entertained Madie for three whole periods. UNB won the game 4-1 against their closest rivals in the standings, St. Mary's. Despite the fact we lead most of the game 4-0, it was still a good one. Fast action, good plays, a little rough stuff but not too much.

Sleeping Beauty and Prince Aiden were front and centre for it all. And so was Madie. Grampy took her on the ice to award the player of the game to Kyle Bailey. He was a very gracious winner and bent over to ask Madie if she enjoyed the game. She answered, "Actually I played with my Barbies." He grinned broadly and said, "Maybe you shouldn't have told me that!" Guess he didn't hear B&K hollering, "GO REDS!" Next time, listen up! ;-)

Perhaps someone should tell Mr. Bailey to never ask a question he doesn't want an honest answer to :) She's too cute that kid. I'm glad you're feeling better and that you got your Madie fix.

Better you than me :-) I'm much less patient with B&K
