HB to ME

Today is my 55th birthday. Five is my lucky number so I will be doubly so this year (maybe that's why I have this feeling I'm going to win big somehow.) My grandfather always believed that your birthday was your special day and so he made a big deal of it, which is why my mother grew up with the same attitude. Hence family gatherings occur without fail. I confess I love my birthday (the feeling spoiled part, not the winter part.) I digress but I once said to my mother, "A winter birthday, storms, cold, right after Christmas... what were you thinking??!?!?" Then I realized they weren't! ;-)

Since my dear husband worked in radio for 33 years and is still well-known to the current morning hosts for most stations in town, it is a common occurance for me to hear birthday greetings on my way to work. Today was no different, thanks to daughter number one. She calls me later to tell me that after she called it in from the "Morell family", Madie is in tears. Asking what's wrong my sweet granddaughter says, "But I wanted you to say Happy Birthday from the family AND Brodie!" She's still feeling my pain and I LOVE her for it!

Despite the great e-mails, cards and presents from co-workers, friends and family, that was the best present of all. Thank you again, Madie.

Love your Grammie!
