100 Things About Me

I'm taking a page from my daughter's first blog and doing an 'About Me' list. Hers was very creative, hope I can do as well as she did!

1. I'm a proud wife, mother and grandmother.
2. I'm a dog person.
3. I can't stand to see animals suffer, hence my involvement in the SPCA.
4. Words are my life.
5. I was the first female sportswriter in NB.
6. I was the second female valedictorian at UNB.
7. And the third female editor-in-chief of UNB's student paper, The Brunswickan.
8. I was former Premier Frank McKenna's speechwriter for three years.
9. I like myself a lot, but wish I stood up for myself more often.
10. I love anything potato.
11. My favourite spot in the world is the beach at Grand Lake.
12. I believe in FAITH in a higher power.
13. The last book I read is "The Secret".
14. My favourite TV shows are Grey's Anatomy, ER and Ellen.
15. I also like to watch Idol, Survivor and The Apprentice (Obviously, I'm okay with Reality TV).
16. I love country music but was once a rock pig.
17. I hate to cook (good thing I married one.)
18. I used to play the piano and can still read music.
19. I collect real fur bears made by Lisa Almon.
20. I love angels.
21. I don't know what I'd do without all the girls in my life. (You know who you are.)
22. I like to be the boss of everything I do.
23. I paint sometimes, but not enough.
24. I love to be in, on or beside the water. (I love fresh water and not salt water.)
25. My favourite piece of advice is "Never do anything that wouldn't make your mother proud."
26. My grandmother (five greats back) was a Mohawk princess.
27. I love a thunder storm.
28. Love flowers but hate to garden.
29. My dream job would involve backroom politics.
30. I've had the same pen pal for almost 45 years.
31. I'm not sure people realize that I'm more sensitive than I'd like to be.
32. Crafts are fun.
33. My favourite number is 5 (and a psychic confirmed it.)
34. I do visit a psychic from time to time for the entertainment value.
35. I believe I am a little psychic myself.
36. Despite the fact there are four siblings in my family, I am the middle child.
37. I look like my father's side of the family and have their health genes as well.
38. My greatest regret is that I didn't tell my grandfather how much I loved him before he died.
39. I want to write the great Canadian novel, but am afraid to start.
40. I'm a saver of all things sentimental.
41. My favourite teachers were Mrs. Walton (Grade 3), Mr. Harriott (Grade 6) and Mr. Jones (Grade 11).
42. English was my favourite subject.
43. Because of my writing skills, my mother says my university degree is a BS.

44. I've been in love twice in my life but there's nothing better than the second time!!!
45. P.S. the psychic said I would be married once and I believe her.
46. I'm a loyal friend (who doesn't say that... but I try extra hard to live it.)
47. I am "positively" a pollyanna.
48. I don't pray enough, but I'm happy to say that I do get answers!
49. In my mind, I'm still the thin girl I used to be.
50. If I had LOTS of money I'd travel everywhere.
51. I love cartoons.
52. I love crosswords and sudoku puzzles.
53. I love to hand sew one-of-a-kind garters for brides I know.
54. I don't sew enough for my granddaugther.
55. I can knit and crochet up a storm as well.
56. I hate having a January birthday just because of the weather.
57. In junior high I had three 100's on one report card.
58. I'm a peacemaker.
59. I met my husband at an NB Sports Hall of Fame dinner (we were both there as media types.)
60. I wanted to be a journalist from the time I was in Grade one.
61. I spent 20 years in the newspaper biz until moving to government 16 years ago.
62. Smell vanilla... mmmmm.
63. Bread is my downfall.
64. I love antiques.
65. Favourite colour - red.
66. I never could nap but I'm getting good at it.
67. I'm clumsy... always have been... always will be.
68. I say "cool" when I agree with you.
69. Favourite country artists are Brad Paisley and Toby Keith.
70. Favourite group of all time... the Beatles of course, my era.
71. Hard rock cafe for me is Jimmy Hendrix and Black Sabbath.
72. I wish I could sing and dance like my daughters.
73. When I was very young, I was always told I had "bedroom eyes".
74. I wanted to go to school so badly when I was four years old, I would take a bookbag and meet my sister so I could pretend to be walking home with her.
75. Favourite pastime as a child... staying overnight and playing games with my grandmother Eve.
76. I can be a real pack rat if I'm not careful.
77. I think the egg came first, not the chicken.
78. And Santa sleeps with his beard outside the covers.
79. My sister told me there was no Santa Claus one Christmas Eve. (But I still don't believe her!)
80. Favourite carol - Silent Night.
81. Best Santa toy ever - my baby doll Christine.
82. Walking not running!
83. Nail polish makes me feel like my nails are suffocating.
84. Favourite place to have lunch is the Lunar Rogue.
85. Allergic to alcohol which makes me a popular DD.
86. I don't mind monotonous tasks (empties the brain).
87. I found out about sex from my older cousin Jayne.
88. My first real kiss was at the age of 13 (and believe it or not, his last name was FRENCH!)
89. I said I was a proud mother, but I'm not sure my daughters understand how proud I am of them!
90. I collect Disney Christmas ornaments, and have two trees so my grandchildren will love helping me decorate this one.
91. My baby is turning 30 soon.
92. My younger baby is getting married this summer.
93. Family and health is everything.
94. The most important thing to remember is RESPECT.
95. Sentimental childhood memory - singing Just A Closer Walk With Thee with my dad as he played his guitar.
96. I'm sorry I never got into synchronized swimming when I was young.
97. Pepsi not Coke.
98. Shower not bath.
99. I love jewellery... especially rings.
100. The age I'd like to reach if only mind and body allow!
